National trade union (Syndicate) of the selectors of the hen Marans pure race

The feathering must be white with no other colour white/pink legs.

The white colour of the Marans is recessive and disappears if crossed with a coloured bird. Out crossing with other breeds does not improve the quality of this delicious meat producing strain.

The White Marans egg is not so dark brown as other strains.

The selection is based more on meat quality, tenderness, flavour and to increase the size of the bird with early feathering.

The "Poularde" White Marans strain has won " Le Trophée du Goût " in 2001 in front of poularde Bresse and La Flèche.
