The Wheaten is a very attractive strain with three contrasting colours. The selection aim is to maintain fine bones, bright red eggs and earliness in egg production.

The male is black with copper red saddle feathers and light red hackle, the wings are dark red and the legs white pink.

The female hackle is golden red. The ear is cream, saddle and wings wheaten, thighs and back feathers light cream. The tail is light brown, the legs are light pink to white.
